Can I Keep the Weight off During the Holidays?
It’s the holiday season, and you know what that means. There’s tons of yummy food everywhere! My goal this year is to enjoy the season, but without putting on extra weight. I know – it sounds hard. But that’s OK because I have a plan. And a plan to reward myself with a Michele watch if I’m successful.
I found some great online resources with all kinds of tips and tricks for approaching eating during the holidays, and I’m actually really excited about putting all of that information to use this year. One of the most practical tips I found is to swap unhealthy food ingredients for their healthier versions when you are cooking. For example, you can use low-fat cheese, sour cream and other items in place of their regular versions. You can make similar swaps with low sodium products such as chicken broth and canned vegetables, too. Your recipes turn out just as tasty, but without all the calories and fat you don’t need.
It’s also good to keep the way you prepare foods in mind. Deep-frying a turkey may be a popular method for preparing the traditional bird these days – I know my family has been anxious to try it. But it adds a ton of calories, so we’ll stick to roasting it and save a lot of calories and fat.
I think the best tip I read is to make sure you don’t go to holiday gatherings with an empty stomach. You should always eat a healthy snack or small meal before you leave the house. I’m stocking up on things like fresh vegetables, apples and peanut butter, whole wheat crackers and other things so I don’t reach for cookies and other high fat items instead.

We’re set to fly back home to the Philippines this coming December not just to spend the holidays with the family, but to be with my sis-in-law on one of the most important occasions in her life – her wedding day. Alyssa is the only flower girl in the entourage and it’ll be her first time ever. Oh, how excited I am! (I’m much more excited than the flower girl… 
)
But just last night, hubby mentioned to me about the 3 more weddings that we have to attent to and I was like, “Shocks! How can we afford to attend all those?” If ever, this will be our schedule: London- Hong Kong Disneyland (for a day)- Manila-Laguna-Manila-Bacolod-Boracay-Manila-Masbate-Manila-Laguna-Manila-London… 8: Goodluck to us and most specially to our purse!
If only there’s also a prepaid card here that we can apply for and will serve like a credit/debit card that we can use instead of using cold cash maxing out our limits, I think somehow we can manage. But really, until now I don’t know how on earth we can keep up with such schedule so best of luck to us…
