Thank You God for I am Not a “Nobody”

I have been long wanting to write about the things I am so thankful for, then upon joining my Marz Rubz’s giveaway, I was surprised to see that one of the requirements is to write a post telling about the things that we are thankful for – just in time…

Before January ended, I decided that I will try to make cakes and cupcakes and see from there if I can do this as a business. I’ve been inspired by my lovely friends who’ve been doing this already and succeed. Honestly, I was so hesitant and scared because I am not sure that I can make it – but still tried anyway. The first trial was not as successful and thought I better stop since it’s the sign I asked from God – that if the first trial failed, then I will have to accept that this path isn’t for me. But then I realized, should I give up that easily? So I told God, I will try it one more time. Surprisingly, it was a success.

Then everything flashed back to me – I have so much to be thanful for – for I am blessed to have been able to transform everything I wanted into reality. I always count myself as “nobody” – failing to see how much I’ve accomplished and how God has guided me. My mind wants me to do everything it pleases so every time I want to try something, I won’t stop unless I did – then stop and do another. It’s been that way ever since. Now, upon looking back, I realized – I am so knowledgable about so many things now. I may not be the best of the best in each area of interest, but at least I was able to know the basics and with that, I feel so blessed. Not everybody is given that chance.

I wanted to learn photoshop – I did!

I wanted to try digiscrapbooking – I did!

I wanted to design my own multiply and friendster layout – I did!

I wanted to design blogs – I did!

I wanted to sell online – I did!

I wanted to work from home as if I’m working in the office with regular salary – I did!

I wanted to try blogging and earn from it – I did!

I wanted to make cakes and cupcakes and start a business from it – I believe, I did!

I was able to get everything I wanted and still continue on getting them. God was behind me all throughout. He even gave me someone who’ll support me all the way and that is one of the many things I am most thankful for – for having a husband who lets me be myself and support me as I grow.

I will forever be grateful for all these opportunities, learnings, skills, talents and achievements! I am not a “NOBODY” and never been one. Each of us is a “SOMEBODY”.

Girard’s Premium Dressings Review & Giveaway

…and finally it’s here! I should have made this months ago, but certain things ate me up and so it took quite awhile to get my feet back to the organized blogging life I had before. Because of this, I am extending my deepest gratitude to Girard’s, particularly to Angela, for being so patient with me. She’s also the sweetest. She even managed to send me another package as the first one didn’t get through to me. Again, Angela and the rest of the Girard’s team, thank you for all the hard work and for this opportunity. My first review and giveaway experience would not be a blast if not for you.

Apple Poppyseed, Creamy Balsamic, Champagne & Peach Mimosa

I was given the chance to experience their 3 new flavors, Apple Poppyseed, Creamy Balsamic and Peach Mimosa as well as the all-time-fave, Girard’s signature Champagne Dressing.

I don’t know how I was trained to eat salads as a child, but I can clearly remember how addicted I was at salad bars in any restaurants my parents brought me into. And now that I’m already in the country where salads are a staple, it feels like heaven to me. I can even make them at home, myself. The only difference now is that – I’m no longer locked into the idea that when it’s a salad, it should have a lettuce and mayo-based dressing. It indeed has lots more variation and that dressings aren’t only for salads, they can be for pasta too. What great discovery this is for me.

When I saw the Apple Poppyseed and Peach Mimosa, I got really excited to try them because fruits are just perfect with greens. When I did, I was like… “WOW!” They’re so good that they both have the perfect combination of sweetness and the hint of spices. They’re good with bacon, chicken or salmon.

With the Creamy Balsamic, I tried the recipe given in the booklet and indeed, salad dressing in pasta is just as lovely. I simply tossed it with cooked spaghetti, sundried tomatoes, red pepper flakes, chopped garlic, chopped parsely and sprinkled it with generous amount of Parmesan cheese. Oh, I had a wonderful lunch. Another treat for my tastebuds.

With the Champagne dressing, though I’m mentioning about it last, I can’t lie that I tried it first. I only have mixed lettuce and croutons in my fridge that time and because I can’t wait until the next grocery shopping, I tried it anyway.

It was a great match with our fried garlic porkchop dinner. I understand how it became an all-time favorite. It’s just one of the best dressing flavors ever invented.

I’m Glowing Inside

We are a family of savers. We always want to just save… save… and save. What we don’t know yet, but would really want to is to understand about investing. If I win £40,000 then we can already enjoy the best of both worlds – saving and investing – PLUS some beauty regimens on the side. *Forgive me about this, but just a week ago, I realized that I’m still a girly girl who loves looking like it.*

Since saving and investing are already given, I then chose to focus on the beauty regimens.

I have already purchased some L’Oreal cosmetics, now I’m looking at buying effective fitness equipment, hair care and some underwear and dresses to complete my relived look.

As a woman, a wife and a mum, I believe that real glow shows from within and I just proved it right last weekend. In all honesty, I am really not the kind who likes taking good care of myself. I just don’t care how I look like, or what people think of me. As long as my family’s happy and healthy, that’s more than enough for me. But then, upon looking back, I realized that from what I have now, I have lost a part of me which is an important part in the completeness of my family’s health and happiness – and that is ME – the ME who I used to be 5 years ago. It’s not about forgetting our priority now as a mother, but at least giving a little for ourselves so that we can give something if not so much… back.

With the help and encouragements of my dear friends, I tried. I put an effort to look good. I fixed my hair, bought foundation and lipstick, made use of what I have at the moment to complete the look I want and VOILA! I was transformed into someone I used to be, or I wanted to be. I was a bit guilty, but seeing the glow in my hubby and daughter’s eyes melt all the guilt away. I loved it that they want me to enjoy myself.

Then the truth that the glow shines from within has again proven that it’s indeed genuine.
