Little Fashion – My Little Online Shop

My dream is to become a successful entrepreneur and though this is not my dream business, I still tried it anyway. Little by little, I’m sure I’ll get there.

I am a stay-at-home-mom so I always find ways to explore my opportunities to earn while still being there for my family full time. When I was still in the Philippines, I was a constant online buyer and I enjoy it so much that I window shop online and get my orders delivered to me instead of me going out and carrying the items myself. I found it very entertaining and stress-free as well. So when I get here last summer of 2008, I thought of the idea, “Why not I turn myself as an online seller this time?” After several thoughts I said, “I’ll do it!”

So, what is Little Fashion Online Shop and how does it work? It’s basically a place for moms (and dads) in the Philippines where they can browse for UK branded items for their kids and for themselves. I do pre-orders by batch where customers visit the online shops in UK and I quote them per item in Philippine Peso. If they agree with my pricing, they fill up the order form. Once order-form has been submitted and down-payment of 50% paid, I process the orders and they only pay the other 50% when items reached the Philippines which is about 5-6 weeks. Orders are despatched as soon as payments are settled. I am also planning to print out the invoice for each customer and send it together with their parcels instead of sending it through email, but I still have to look for a reliable epson receipt printer. Oh! On the second thought I think it’s more environment friendly if invoices remain unprinted, so we’ll see.

Lennikins Crafts

Lennikins Crafts is an online shop created and maintained by my long-time online friend, Mommy Len. She’s one of the most creative persons I know. She was only making clips and clothes for her 2 kids until she decided to make for others as well.

These are samples of her many cute and adorable creations.

Oh, and she bakes too so if you are living in VA and hosting a party most specially for your kids, just get in touch with her and she’ll do the crafty jobs for you. May it be cakes, cupcakes, party decorations, party favors, invitations, giveaways, name it! She can do all those with her bare gifted hands!

I’m sure in no time, she’ll have her physical shop and by then I’m sure she’ll gonna be needing a good POS systems to have a better and more efficient record of all her sales.

First Step to Blogging – Get Own Domain Name

I am no expert, but I can share my opinions based on my experiences when I started.

One most important thing to consider when you’re thinking of getting into the blogosphere is having your own domain name.

What is a domain name?

→It’s in the form of .com, .net, .info, etc. In my case, it’s acmomcee.com.  It gives your site some kind of an identity. Once you have it, it’ll remain yours for as long as you want. You may also use a domain name that’s the same as the title of your blog. For example, in my food blog, it’s comedinein.info.

Why is it important?

→Aside from having your own identity in the world wide web, it will also hold your Page Ranking (PR). You may start from using a free blogger platform like blogger.com, wordpress.com and the like, (i.e. acmomcee.blogspot.com / acmomcee.wordpress.com). but the farther you go with blogging, the more you are learning the technicalities. It might already ba late if after months of blogging and you’ve already done so much like linking with other bloggers, having lots of visitors and finally earning a PR, you’ll then want to have your own domain because your PR will get back to ZERO. (What is PR? I’ll tackle it next time.)

How do you get your own domain?

→First thing’s first. It’s NOT FREE, basically. You may purchase it from godaddy.com, 1and1.com, and a lot more. Prices depend on what domain extension you want (.com to be more expensive) and you will have to renew it yearly. I have mine all purchased from godaddy.
